UpperHills

UpperHills (Simplified Chinese: 深业上城; Traditional Chinese: 深業上城), or known as with its developer's name, Shum Yip UpperHills, is a mixed use development project east of Lianhuashan Park in Futian, Shenzhen developed by government-owned Shum Yip Group. Its site faces arterial road Caitian Road and Huangguang Road, neighboring another Bijiashan Park to its east. It was designed by American firm Skidmore, Owing & Merill LLP (SOM),[1] Chinese firm URBANUS, aided by ARUP as its structural and mechanical consultant. After around four years of construction starting from 2014, it was opened to public by phases during 2018 to 2020.[2]
The complex covers a site of 121,200 square meters, with the GFA (Gross Floor Area) mounting to 1,200,000 square meter circa.[3] It comprises Phase I- two office towers, and four apartment blocks, and Phase II- a 3-storey indoor shopping center, a rooftop open air mixed use segment "Loft" and "Town", and two hotels (MUJI Hotel,[4] and Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen). 339-meter-tall Office tower 1 was ranked 5th tallest in Shenzhen, serving tenants including Toshiba, Sumitomo, Google, and Meta.[5] The shopping center has a portfolio of Clothing and F&B businesses, anchored by sportsgood retailer Decathlon, ZARA, and French boutique department store Galeries Lafayette.
The development has two main public transit access points. Exit F, Donggualing Station on Line 10 of Shenzhen Metro is connected to Level B1 of the shopping center. UpperHills Bus Terminal is located on Level 1.[6]
Shopping Mall "The Galleria"
The mall, referred to as "the galleria" by Miami-based design firm Arquitectonica, has a gross area of 167,000 square meter. A warm beige was used throughout the interior section, along with curved ceilings and parquette wooden-texture floorings. The mall is laid out with a linear plan, running east–west.[7]
