On 2 January 2023, at approximately 1:59pm GMT+10, two helicopters operated by Sea World Helicopter Tours collided whilst one was attempting to land and the other departing from a helipad at Sea World theme park.

Less than a minute after take-off, the departing helicopter was struck in the tail by an incoming helicopter and crashed on a sandbar, killing four on board and leaving three in critical condition.

The arriving helicopter safely landed on the same sandbar with damage to the cockpit glass and all on board surviving.[1]
