Yellow mechanical bird template
I'd like a template for the WikiLove message that I used here. I originally found it at User_talk:CheckIntentPlease, and as far as I know it was made by User:Deepfriedokra. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 01:00, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Skarmory is there a reason you cannot create the template, if you have the code for it already? Elliot321 (talk | contribs) 02:02, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- I tried and quickly realized I have no idea how to code a template. I have the message code, but what I was doing was copying it from the talk page to other talk pages, and a template would probably make things easier. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 19:54, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Skarmory, do you still need help? ~ Ase1estecharge-paritytime 12:45, 1 March 2021 (UTC)
- Aseleste, sorry for the late response, but yes, I do. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 02:22, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Done @Skarmory: See {{subst:Yellow mechanical bird}}. It's not exactly the same, though you could make (or request) a personalized one in your userspace.

90 Hello Requested templates, Aseleste has given you a yellow mechanical bird! You see, these things promote WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a yellow mechanical bird! Enjoy!

Width of templates for listing old XfDs
I've been trying to get this to work on the sandbox of Template:Oldtfdlist without much luck. Currently, the width is static, so no matter how much text is inside the template, it takes up the same amount of space on the page. I think it would be better if the width was dynamic, but didn't go above the width it's currently always at. I tried "width:auto" "max-width:50%"
, but apparently max-width overrides width, so that didn't work. I tried "max-width:50%" by itself, but that didn't work either because it doesn't become as wide as the static template is right now with lots of text. Can someone who knows what they're doing help out with this? Thanks, DesertPipeline (talk) 06:24, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @DesertPipeline:
Done with Special:Diff/1014140108. Let me know if this is not what you meant. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 11:58, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Aseleste: Unfortunately not; that displays the same as my failed attempts previously. I don't know if it's just not displaying correctly on my side or something, but the maximum width is a lot less like that than the static width it was before. I'd like it to be able to display with as small a width as possible to fit the text inside it, up to a maximum width consistent with the width it used to be statically. Regards, DesertPipeline (talk) 12:44, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @DesertPipeline: Hmm... They look the same to me right now on Template:Oldtfdlist/testcases after restoring Template:Oldtfdlist/sandbox to its previous layout. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 12:50, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Aseleste: So you mean that the "Large amount of text" testcase is the same width for you with both the old static code and the new dynamic code? Because for me, the width is to the first "test", then it wraps. DesertPipeline (talk) 12:55, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- (For the current live code only, I mean) DesertPipeline (talk) 12:56, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @DesertPipeline: Yeah, I mean the last test case. The first two test cases are not the same because 50% is not needed to fit all the content inside. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 12:58, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- Also, in case you are not aware, 50% width is relative, so the wrapped words will be different depending on your browser window width. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 13:02, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Aseleste: My browser window is the same size when comparing the two, so I have no idea why this is happening. I'm on Firefox ESR 78.9.0. What about you? DesertPipeline (talk) 13:06, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 13:08, 25 March 2021 (UTC)- User:Aseleste: Wait, sorry, no, I got confused. All testcases wrap for me with the new code. In the link, it gets to "Templates for", then wraps, even though when it gets to "Keep", that goes further than the link does. The same with "Keep. test". I don't know whether this is because I'm on an older version, or if it's specifically a Firefox thing. I don't understand why that would be the case, though. DesertPipeline (talk) 13:12, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @DesertPipeline: Check the test casr page again and look at the sandbox version. I have just updated the sandbox code. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 13:22, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Aseleste: I now get a horizontal scroll bar, and the "Large amount of text" sandbox test case is off to the right, with some of it (up to "Template:Maintai", and then it goes off the page to the right and I have to scroll) visible within the normal borders of the page without scrolling horizontally. The other sandbox test cases are displaying correctly. DesertPipeline (talk) 13:26, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- @DesertPipeline: Does the test case box itself extends beyond the normal border? If so, that's just a quirk of the test case template, so it should not be a problem for the template we are discussing. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 13:34, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
- User:Aseleste: Yeah, I was thinking I should mention that after I posted my previous comment :) The test case box is off to the right as well, and the live code example isn't visible unless I scroll all the way to the right. The current sandbox code is working properly for me then :) DesertPipeline (talk) 13:37, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Mahatma Gandhi family tree
I was wondering if there should be a template for the family of Mahatma Gandhi. It's the perfect size to fit in a template, and is certainly notable enough.
Painting17 (talk) 15:20, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Painting17: Do you mean creating a template like {{Kim dynasty (North Korea)}}? Also, what should the name of the new template be? ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 01:17, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- Or you mean {{Kim dynasty (North Korea) family tree}}? ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 01:30, 3 April 2021 (UTC)
- I think the family tree one would do fine. Painting17 (talk) 13:06, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Painting17: Lots of family trees to choose from... Not sure which one to use here. It looks like the choices are {{Tree list}} (easist), {{Chart}}, and a table (hardest). ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 15:52, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- I generally think charts are the way to go. It's small enough that a tree list wouldn't be necessary. Painting17 (talk) 15:55, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

Critical Role
My idea for a template is a NavBox on the Critical Role franchise. There's a large amount of articles related to it, including Critical Role (campaign one), Critical Role (campaign two), Critical Role Productions, List of Critical Role episodes, and Critical Role: Vox Machina Origins.
Painting17 (talk) 15:49, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

Getting number of edits by a user
This should be fairly straight forward. Just get the number of edits made by a user and give that output in the template. The user should be a variable

Requesting flags/emblems
I noticed a large quantity of articles that are missing images of flags, such as flag of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I was wondering if there could be a template used to mark these.
Painting17 (talk) 22:43, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Painting17: Is putting {{Image requested}} on the article talk page insufficient? ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 01:38, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
WikiProject Invite
My request is for an invite template for Draft: Wikipedia:WikiProject SpaceX (company). Many other WikiProjects have them and I was thinking that since not may people are editing my WikiProject draft, maybe there could be an invite I could send users from other similar WikiProjects that would stand out on my talk page. The template should look similar to the following template.
64.121.103.144 (talk) 00:07, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Done - {{Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/SpaceX/Invite}}. Putting the template under the proposal for now since it would be weird to have a template on the template namespace for an non-existent-yet WikiProject.
- To use it, type
{{Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/SpaceX/Invite|~~~~}}
, which produces: - Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/SpaceX/Invite ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 02:39, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Mexican Governors (by state)
While there is obviously a template for governors of Mexican states, there is no template for governors of each individual state in Mexico. For instance, there is no template for governors of Morelos or governors of Jalisco, like there is a template:Governors of Indiana.

Fidel Castro family tree
I see that there are enough members of the Fidel Castro family to make a small tree. Due to the importance of several of the Castros, I think a Castro tree would be a useful addition to Wikipedia.

WikiProject Women in hip hop music welcome template and talk page template
The first one would welcome new users to the project and have two photos of any female hip hop musicians (perhaps Nicki Minaj and Cardi B?).
"Hello! I've seen you edit a lot on articles about women in hip hop music! I'd like to invite you to WikiProject Women in hip hop music, a collaborative effort to improve articles about women who make hip hop music, along with their projects."
Along with that, perhaps there could be a parameter to specify which article you found the person editing.
The second template would be one to put on the talk page of articles. Sort of like Template:WikiProject Pop Music.
"This (namespace) is within the scope of WP:WikiProject Women in hip hop music, a collaborative effort to improve articles about women who make hip hop music, along with their projects."

Average precipitation table
I want a template for average monthly and annual precipitation similar to the Template:Average temperature table but with the same colouring as green precipitation colour scale in weatherbox template. I will use it to create the article "List of cities by average precipitation" which will be similar to the List of cities by average temperature article. I think such an article will be a useful addition to Wikipedia as comparing cities in terms of precipitation is as important as comparing cities in terms of temperature.
Shaheen Hassan (talk) 14:09, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Shaheen Hassan: Can you draft how tables in List of cities by average precipitation would look like? I think it might be better to generalize the template, but I would need some examples to do so. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 01:10, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Family templates
If you look through the templates in Category:Family templates, you will see that all of them are NavBoxes. I think many of these templates would work better as family trees instead of NavBoxes, as their contents are either too small or too large to fit in a navbox.
Some templates I think would work better as family trees would be Template:Wayans family, Template:Chaplin family, Template:Kapoor family, Template:Ray family, Template:Bach family, Template:Custis family, Template:Bose family and Template:Barbour family.
Is this a valid idea? Painting17 (talk) 15:00, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Painting17: Alternatively, a corresponding template named
Template:XXX family tree
for each template here could work. Compare {{Kim dynasty (North Korea)}} and {{Kim dynasty (North Korea) family tree}}. ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 01:03, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
Rocketry Editor of the Year
I am the manager and project coordinator of WikiProject Rocketry. I've rewarded users with the Rocketry Editor of the Year award. Can you make a template for this.
