DescriptionFormer Sloan Presbyterian Church, Sloan, New York - 20200819.jpg
English: The former Sloan Presbyterian Church, 122 Halstead Avenue, Sloan, New York, August 2020. Information on the history of the church is scanty: it was founded in 1906, possibly as a mission of another Presbyterian congregation in Gardenville (modern-day West Seneca) at a time just after the village's incorporation, when workers on the railroads and in related industries were attracted to the newly developing areas just east of the city line. Originally located on Broadway near the city line, they had moved by 1909 to a site further up Halstead Street that's now part of Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, and again about 1932 to this modest but handsome wood-framed building near the corner of Gates Street, with its imposing central tower crowned by an octagonal tent roof. The building became a private residence after Sloan Presbyterian's mid-1990s dissolution.
