Draft:LGBTQ people
Input is invited at Draft:LGBTQ people. This is intended as a WP:BROADCONCEPT article covering the culture, rights, and history of LGBTQ people, with sections written in WP:SUMMARYSTYLE and linking to the more specific subtopics. It also links to geographically based broad-concept articles like LGBTQ people in Mexico.--Trystan (talk) 23:57, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Requesting help with the article for Marcy Rheintgen
Hi all
Please could I have some help with an article I just published. I think its likely that the article may be vandalised and nominated for deletion etc given the political climate in the US, especially in Florida. Marcy Rheintgen was the first person to be arrested and jailed under an anti-trans law for washing her hands in a women's bathroom in the Florida State Capitol building.
Many thanks
John Cummings (talk) 16:30, 13 April 2025 (UTC)
- I think the subject is also likely to be challenged as only being notable for this single event, but the article could be moved to Arrest of Marcy Rheintgen or something like that. Funcrunch (talk) 16:42, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

Requesting some assistance
Hello everyone. I am hoping someone on this project might be able to help.
Talk:sj Miller, there is a thread Reinstatement of pronouns started by myself. The article explaines in the personal life section about sj Millers choice to use sj Millers name and not any pronouns. This is well referenced in the article. I think this part of the discussion is sorted now.
I'm looking for advice on how we write about people who do not use any pronouns. Writing isn't one of my strong points at the best of times. Is anyone willing to take a look at the article to see if the flow can be improved?
I wondered if there was any advice in the form of policy, essays etc about how we approach writing about agendered people. @Gaismagorm: made what I thought was a good suggestion, maybe it would make sense to update the rules for pronouns in articles, and get an overall consensus on how wikipedia should approach agender folks in general
. Many thanks for any responses. Knitsey (talk) 12:48, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- Personally...All sympathy and apologies, but I'm not going to break English over a personal preference. Be accommodating in as much as is practical, but the point at which that makes things more difficult for readers then it's counterproductive to our purpose. Something like
Miller was disowned by Miller's family
is getting into territory where it becomes difficult to read. I'm fine with singular they, but that's widely understood by readers and speakers. GMGtalk 13:17, 15 April 2025 (UTC)- This is why I wanted to ask for advice. Some things could be edited yo read better, but I would struggle with some of the edits such as Miller is also a cat trainer and has Miller's own cat parkour training business as it doesn't read right. I proposed, Miller is also a cat trainer and owns a catparkour training business but I am stuck with other edits, such as you mention above @GreenMeansGo. I've tried reading the article using (in my head) 'sjmiller' as a pronoun, which makes a little more sense but it isn't a suitable way to look at it as a Wikipedia article.
- Full disclosure, I have dyslexia which isn't making any of this easier for me to solve on my own. Knitsey (talk) 13:29, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- The problem is that something like
Miller was disowned by Miller's family
makes your brain twitch for a second and wonder if there's two Miller's we're talking about. We would always use a pronoun if spoken aloud candidly. Have to keep in mind that we're shooting for about a college freshman level, or someone who speaks English as a second language. We don't have to be a jerk about it, but it remains that our primary purpose is to be understood. GMGtalk 21:49, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- The problem is that something like
- Just a note that I started that article and regret doing so, as it has been plagued by obvious WP:COI edits ever since. Funcrunch (talk) 13:58, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
- I agree with GreenMeansGo on this. We can prefer Miller's name wherever possible, but when it begins to break the rules of English grammar, we should probably rely on the singular they, as the closest we can get to respecting Miller's preferred pronouns, in order to facilitate understanding by the reader.
- I do like your proposal as outlined in the discussion, and I think we should probably strive for that route whenever possible. I'll hop into the discussion with suggestions where I could see improvements. ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 14:54, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
Discussion on adding more characters from Maria-sama ga Miteru to LGBTQ+ characters page
Input is invited at here. I have added a few characters to the page, but I'm hoping to get more thoughts before adding any more to the List of animated series with LGBTQ characters: 2000–2004 page, since many of these characters, in this Class S & yuri series, are in "sisterly" relationships (i.e. soeurs) so I don't know if that would fall under a lesbian relationship or not. As such, I look forward to your comments. Historyday01 (talk) 19:04, 17 April 2025 (UTC)

There's a discussion at Talk:Hannah Clover#COIs about LGBT-related categories when it is not a WP:DEFINING attribute of the subject. GA with tagged issues
Hi, I noticed asexuality has a personal essay tag in the research section while also being currently accessed as a GA. The religion section also has an unreliable source tag and reads a bit awkwardly. Is there anyone who'd be interested in working on this article to address any possible issues? I recently added a few sentences from a book I read recently but that's not the same as looking at the article as a whole. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 02:29, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- I made a few changes to the first subsection of the research section, but honestly, skimming the rest of it, I don't see much that justifies that personal essay tag. Of course, it's entirely possible I'm missing things. I'll raise the issue on the article's talk page. MidnightAlarm (talk) 15:19, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oops, didn't mean to ignore the stuff about the religion section. I'll try to tackle that later today, though if someone else wants to give it a go instead, have at it! MidnightAlarm (talk) 15:31, 20 April 2025 (UTC)
- The discrimination section could also be more fleshed out too, if you're interested in working on that. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 15:32, 20 April 2025 (UTC)

Sub-referencing: User testing

Apologies for crossposting
Hi I'm Johannes from Wikimedia Deutschland's Technical Wishes team. We are making great strides with the new sub-referencing feature and we’d love to invite you to take part in two activities to help us move this work further:
- Try it out and share your feedback
- Please try the updated wikitext feature on the beta wiki and let us know what you think, either on our talk page or by booking a call with our UX researcher.
- Get a sneak peak and help shape the Visual Editor user designs
- Help us test the new design prototypes by participating in user sessions – sign up here to receive an invite. We're especially hoping to speak with people from underrepresented and diverse groups to get different perspectives. If that's you, please consider signing up! No prior or extensive editing experience is required. User sessions will start May 14th.
We plan to bring this feature to Wikimedia wikis later this year. We’ll reach out to wikis for piloting in time for deployments. Creators and maintainers of reference-related tools and templates will be contacted beforehand as well.
Thank you very much for your support and encouragement so far in helping bring this feature to life Johannes Richter (WMDE) (talk) 15:25, 28 April 2025 (UTC)

Looking for help wording a DYK about the arrest of transgender woman under Florida's bathroom ban
Dear all
We are working on a hook for Template:Did you know nominations/Arrest of Marcy Rheintgen and would like some feedback on the phrasing. Currently I have suggested
- did you know that Marcy Rheintgen was arrested and jailed in a Florida men's prison for washing her hands in a women's bathroom while being transgender?
Another user has suggested something else which I think may have issues. I would really appreciate people with knowledge to give suggestions for accurate and approriate language for this hook (on the hook discussion page, not here).
Thanks so much

Celina Jaitly
I have recently re-added material about Celina Jaitly's support for LGBTQ rights in India; it can be seen at this section, with clear sources. The similar material (mentioning her activism) already existed in the article but was removed some years ago, supposedly due to unreliable sourcing. Anyway, project members are invited to help improve the section, by further expanding it and possibly adding more sources. Your help would be very appreciated.
