April 2025

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or website, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Bbb23 (talk) 21:21, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

DW Corporate Communications (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))

Request reason:

I would like to unblock this account from editing for the following reasons: The addition of the paragraphs “DW Global Media Forum” and “DW Freedom of Speech Award” were meant to give the reader information on these events and were not meant as promotion. As both events are held every year, mentioning them in a Wikipedia article about Deutsche Welle seems like a relevant piece of information. I do however realize why this can be seen as advertising and appreciate how alert the Wikipedia community is.

Finally, I will adhere to the following in the future: I will discuss future edits on the discussion page instead of adding them to the article; I will only suggest minor changes instead of adding whole chapters, like the upcoming change of Director General at DW, a change in usage numbers or provide users with the latest DW logo for use.

As DW’s communications team, we want to make sure that the article about DW contains relevant and correct information without advertising. DW Corporate Communications (talk) 09:00, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}} with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.

Team accounts or business accounts are not permitted on the English Wikipedia. This is different from the German Wikipedia, where such accounts are permitted and encouraged. Here, each account must be exclusively used by a single individual who may never share access with anyone(like colleagues or a successor to your position). I assume that you want to continue to use this account on the German Wikipedia, so we can't rename this account to reflect exclusive use by a specific individual; once this is resolved we will need to alter the block to permit you to create an individual account for your personal use. Do not create an account until this block is removed(nor should others at DW). Once you have that account you will need to declare as a paid editor.

Note that "meant to give the reader information on these events" is just a form of promotion(see WP:YESPROMO). The English Wikipedia doesn't merely provide information, and isn't a place for companies to give information about themselves. We primarily summarize what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about a topic. Primary sources are acceptable for certain things, but we're mainly interested in what others wholly unaffiliated with a topic say about it. Again, this may be different from the German Wikipedia, each language Wikipedia has its own policies. 331dot (talk) 10:15, 6 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
