Hi Cukie Gherkin. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Steps such as checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline are mandatory and will take a few minutes per article.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any required steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. ~~

Do you have time to help research?

Greetings. Last month you posted on the VG Project talk page offering your time to help research topics. If you still have time available, I took an interest in the retro game NHL Hockey. I've already started expanding the various sections, but I believe the development and legacy sections may prove to be challenging for me. If you can help find development or marketing information as well as general information about the NHL game series that it started, I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, no worries and please disregard the request. Thanks. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:57, 29 March 2025 (UTC))[reply]

@Guyinblack25: Sure, I can take a look and see what I can find Cukie Gherkin (talk) 18:42, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You are amazing. Thank you very much. This is much more than I anticipated. I checked the Hockey WikiProject and Hockey News is listed there. Thanks again! (Guyinblack25 talk 22:15, 29 March 2025 (UTC))[reply]
No problem! You should also check this for more sources, I forgot to check this. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 22:17, 29 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. The article has come a long way with the sources you found. I might even put it up for GA if I have the time for it. (Guyinblack25 talk 02:08, 1 April 2025 (UTC))[reply]
That's awesome, it looks solid. Glad I was able to help get it to that point. Do you mind if I be co-nom? I can do a copyedit before the GAN if you like, just to have it be given a good once over. Cukie Gherkin (talk) 08:33, 1 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm always appreciative of another pair eyes reviewing for copy edits. And of course, you can be a co-nominator. I'm quite out of practice on GAN, so I was going to nominate Atomic Betty (video game) first to get reacclimatized to the process. I'll let you know when I nominate it. Thanks again. Guyinblack25 talk 01:08, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have an idea when you'll nominate? I got an infection in my thumb, so I'd like to let it get less swollen before I do more intensive Wikipedia editing. Would you be okay if I did my copyedit a few days from now? Cukie Gherkin (talk) 01:12, 2 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No rush. I'm almost ready to nominate Atomic Betty. Just need to do another sweep for sources and then a final copy edit. After that, I had planned to nominate NHL Hockey, so whenever you have a chance to copy edit. (Guyinblack25 talk 03:22, 2 April 2025 (UTC))[reply]
Hey there. I saw that you started copy editing NHL Hockey. Let me know when you're done and I'll nominate it for GAN with you as a co-nominator. Thanks again for your help. (Guyinblack25 talk 18:46, 15 April 2025 (UTC))[reply]
@Guyinblack25: Sure, give me a day or two and I can start working on that. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 12:14, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
👍Sure thing. No rush. (Guyinblack25 talk 12:41, 16 April 2025 (UTC))[reply]

Characters from two Nintendo DS games

Hello! I have recently started editing video game articles after working on music topics from around two years, and I've been looking into expanding coverage of the defunct developer Cing. They released two adventure games for the DS that I am interested in, Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and its sequel Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. I would like to a write a list of characters from these games based on sources that are SIGCOV by my assessment, but I'm rather unfamiliar with notability on these subjects (music notability is much more cut and dry), so figured I would leave a message since you seem experienced in this field. Sorry if this is annoying—I would've liked to figure it out by myself—but I would really appreciate the help.

These are the sources that I personally consider the strongest, though there are a few more that may contain a paragraph or two:

  • This and this from Kotaku, written by the same atuhor, focus almost solely on the casts of the two games, respectively, and how they interact with each other
  • KillScreen has about two paragraphs near the end about the characters from the second game.
  • This Japanese review from ITMedia gives an overview of several characters from the first game and goes decently in depth about the main character.
  • IGN gives a paragraph of attention to design and writing of the characters in the second game
  • Eurogramer's review of the first game places heavy weight on the characters and gives detail into the story development for a few. GameSpot is similar

There is some more coverage similar to the Eurogamer and GameSpot reviews but I don't wish to make this too long. I doubt any pages can be made about specific characters, but perhaps a list could work? Sorry for the bother. Any help is appreciated. IanTEB (talk) 02:09, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not at my PC right now, but I can check out these sources later. I would also recommend using what I use for searching video game topics: User:Cukie Gherkin/Source searching Cukie Gherkin (talk) 04:35, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of AlphaBounce

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article AlphaBounce you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Pending Changes

Hi Cukie Gherkin. I don't know if any of the pages you currently watch are under pending pages protection, but if you haven't already encountered it you probably will in the future. So I have set your account as a "pending changes reviewer", allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. Any such edits to pages on your watchlist will be highlighted, there is also a list of articles awaiting review located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

@WereSpielChequers: Not that I don't appreciate the user privilege, but did I sign up for this or was it just given to me? I just want to make sure I'm not losing my mind, haha - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 12:14, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cukie, this is just given to you because I think you are an eligible Wikipedia who uses their watchlist. No application necessary and no obligation, so no problem if it turns out you never use it. ϢereSpielChequers 12:35, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay! Thanks for thinking of me. :) Cukie Gherkin (talk) 12:36, 16 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
