The German article mentions 631 awards, this one 633. I'll add a {{Fact}} tag. Also note that ""Deutsche Kriegsauszeichnungen 1936-1945 Heer - Waffen-SS - Polizei" von Rolf Michaelis - S. 84" seems to note only "about 650", taken from [1]Tierlieb (talk) 08:35, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One reason why the estimated number of awards varies is that, in the very late stages of the war, not all awards were properly recorded. The "about 650" figure is probably an attempt to reflect these late awards.
