Surafel Dagnachew

Surafel Dagnachew Mengistu (Amharic: ሱራፌል ዳኛቸው; born 11 September 1997) is an Ethiopian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for USL Championship club Loudoun United and the Ethiopia national team. [1][2]

Club career

Adama City

Surafel began his professional career with Adama City and made his debut in the 2016–17 Ethiopian Premier League season.

Fasil Kenema

On 5 August 2018, Surafel joined Fasil Kenema from Adama City.[3] Surafel was awarded the Ethiopian Football Federation Player of the Year award for the 2018–19 season.[1] Surafel then won the 2020–21 Ethiopian Premier League with the club.

Loudoun United

On 5 June 2024, Surafel joined Loudoun United from Fasil Kenema with a one-year contract.[4] On 18 March 2025, Surafel made his debut for the club in the first round of the U.S. Open Cup against West Chester United, where he provided an assist for Riley Bidois in a 3–2 win.[5]

International career

Surafel made his international debut with the Ethiopia national team in a 4–3 2020 African Nations Championship qualification win against Djibouti on 4 August 2019.

On 25 December 2021, he was named to Ethiopia's 25 man squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
