Scum Villain Self-saving System

Scum Villain's Self Saving System or Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (in simpliflied Chinese人渣反派自救系统番外; pinyin Rén Zhā Fǎnpài Zìjiù Xìtǒng) is the first, and shorter, work of the writer Mo Xiang Tong Xiu (墨香铜臭). It is formed by eighty-one chapters and nineteen extras. This series has the most humoristic elements from the works of this author (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation and Heaven Official's Blessing) and a metalinguistic edge by the hands of the protagonist, an avid reader of stallion novels, a genre that is criticized and parodied in this serie.

It started as a web novel published on the platform JJWXC, releasing periodically between 2014 and 2016 although it has been edited by the author in recent years. The last time it was edited was in 2024.

The books were released as physical copies for the first time in 2017 by the editorial Pinsin Studio in three volumes. In 2022 the editorial published a revamped version for its 5th anniversary. This edition included a normal version and an special version with merchandising.

There is an English version published by Seven Seas Danmei publish in 2021 with four volumes, three following the main story and the last one with the extras. This version is available on an international level alongside other translations that have been made in recent years.

Despite Shen Qingqiu great power as a cultivator he is destined to be punished for his crimes against the protagonist. Now, his only hope is to get into Luo Binghe's good graces before the young man's rise to power.

The most involved anti-fan of Proud Immortal Demon Way. After dying in a fit of rage after the end, he transmigrates into the body of Shen Qingqiu, the evil teacher of the young protagonist with the opportunity to improve the story. His main goal is to avoid the terrible future that awaits him by hugging the protagonist thighs to get a less severe punishment when Binghe begins his plot of revenge.

The protagonist of Proud Immortal Demon Way. The original Luo Binghe rose from humble beginnings to the top of the world, achieving a three-digit harem. In this story, however, he begins as a young disciple who manages to stay sweet and positive despite the mistreatment he has endured. His tragic experiences have already planted a dark seed that could germinate, but his greatest desire is some love and recognition.

When Shen Qingqiuhas a change of heart and shows him his kindness he is willing to forget any past offense, now his goal is to become stronger to protect his master and stay by his side.

As it a danmei, the main focus of this series revolves around a homosexual relation between two men seen with female lenses and somo heteronormative elements. Some elements form this perspective are translated in the story like the presence of sexual roles based on the traditional heteronormative roles. Another relevant element is the important of virginity and its safekeeping for a one true love, a commonly feminine value that gets extrapolated to the male characters.

The author seeks to deconstruct several aspects related to compulsory heterosexuality and some perspectives about homosexuality, as seen perfectly in the character of Shen Qingqiu. He has a rigid vision about his own and others heterosexuality that he remarks on several occasions where his actions go against his words.

This story is a deconstruction of masculinity seen clearly in the two main characters. Luo Binghe shifts from a masculine fantasy to present stereotipicaly feminine personality trails and roles. In Shen Qingqiu case his discontent of taking the female role in plot points is clear and we are capable of apreciating his change of view about masculinity when his realtionship with Luo Binghe starts taking a romantic turn.

This story also touches the role of women in the stoty by showing how separating them from their role as a conquest for Luo Binghe they acquire greater intelligence and independence. Despite this, the presence and development of female characters is scarce.

The writing style^[2] of this novel has a marked national style with the use of slang and expressions typical of the spaces of Chinese web novels (for which several translations have considered it necessary to put a glossary that explains them to the international public). This modern vocabulary also helps to differentiate the protagonist from the world to which he has been transmigrated.

It is characterized by phraseological units, which seek to enliven the narrative and express profound ideas with simple words. It also uses various syntactic resources such as rhetorical questions, repetitions, transformations of sentence structure and double negatives that give vigor to writing.

It has been translated into several languages: english,^[3] spanish,^[4]​ thai,​^[5] korean,^[6] vietnamense,^[7] france,^[8]​ russian^[9] and italian.^[10] In many of those translations was realised two versions: one with only the book and an special one with merchandising.

The english version was published in 2021 by Seven Seas Danmei in four volumes. Each volume is printed in large trim with deluxe paper, french flaps, spot gloss covers, a mix of exclusive color and black and white interior illustrations, a robust glossary and a name guide specific to the series.It was translated by Faelicy and Lily, who had started to translate it online before Seven Seas bought the rights to their translation. The art was done entirelly by Xiao Tong Kong, also known as Velinxi, this art has been reused in other european versions.

On September 10, 2020 a donghua adaptation started airing on Tencent Video with ten chapters un der the name Chuan Shu Zijiu Zhinan or Scumbag System. The style used was 3D animations. There is a trailer for the second season since 2021 but there is not a premiere date despite many speculations.

In 2023 it was dubbed into Japanese^[11] with a weekly schedule in WOWOW. The transmission started on October 18 and lasted seven weeks.

In 2019 there was a manhua adaptation that was suspended after three chapters after a controversy^[12] about an anti-fan worker. It is currently in an undetermined hiatus.^[13]
