Patrick Park

Patrick Park (born January 1, 1977) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. Known for his evocative lyrics and melodic sound. With a passion for music that blossomed in his youth, Park's style is characterized by a blend of folk, rock, and Americana, often reflecting his experiences and surroundings.

Biography

Park grew up in Morrison, Colorado. He was exposed to the arts at an early age: his mother was a published poet, and his father was a doctor who enjoyed playing folk and blues records and the guitar at home.[2] Park himself began to write songs in his early teens and played in bands starting in middle school.[3]

He moved to New York City to try and start a music career, but left after less than eight months for Los Angeles, working numerous odd jobs that ranged from clothing store retail clerk to karate teacher to support himself.[2]

In 2000, Park completed his first demo collection, now known as The Basement Tapes. He recorded the songs in the back of a store owned by a friend's girlfriend since he did not have enough money to use a studio.[3]

Career

Park befriended producer Dave Trumfio (Wilco, Earlimart) later that year. He and Trumfio wrote, recorded, and mixed material for Park's debut album during the summer months of 2002 and has since worked very closely with him on various EPs and LPs.

He signed a deal with Hollywood Records in 2003, and while recording for the major label, Badman Recording Co. released Park's first offering, the six song EP: Under the Unminding Skies. Park's first studio album, Loneliness Knows My Name, followed in 2004, which showcased his distinctive voice and heartfelt songwriting. Over the years, he has released multiple albums, including “Everyone’s in Everyone”, “Come What Will”, “Love Like Swords” and most his recent “Here/Gone”

As a touring artist, Park has traveled extensively, garnering critical acclaim and a loyal following sharing his music with audiences across the country with Gregory Alan Isakov, My Morning Jacket, Tift Merritt, Paul Kelly, Liz Phair, Damien Rice and many others. In addition to his solo career, he has collaborated with various artists and contributed to film and TV soundtracks including "The OC", "Grey's Anatomy" "One Tree Hill" as well as commercial scores for Volkswagen.
