GlassesUSA
GlassesUSA.com is a leading online retailer of prescription eyewear[2] including eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. Founded in 2009[3], the company operates globally and offers a wide range of products from both its proprietary house brands and numerous well-known designer labels. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, GlassesUSA.com is a subsidiary of the Optimax Eyewear group[4] and has secured multiple rounds of venture funding to support its growth and technological advancements.
History
It was founded in 2009 by Daniel Rothman, Eldad Rothman and Roy Yamner. Daniel Rothman is the current CEO of the company.[5] The company primarily focuses on North America, but also accepts orders from 92 countries.[6] Initially, the company focused on manufacturing and selling its own house brands. Over time, it expanded its offerings by importing and collaborating with major global eyewear companies, including Luxottica, Safilo, Marchon, Marcolin, and more.
In 2015, GlassesUSA raised a $12.5 Million growth round led by the Viola Private Equity fund, a member of the Viola Group, a technology Private Equity group whose purpose is to "enable Israeli entrepreneurs."[7][8]
In 2021, following a surge in e-commerce sales during the COVID-19 pandemic, Tene Investment Fund acquired a 12% stake in Optimax, the parent company of GlassesUSA.com, for $45 million. This investment aimed to leverage GlassesUSA.com's technological and retail expertise.[9]
As of 2024, GlassesUSA.com offers over 9,000 different types of eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses, encompassing more than 90 brands. The company's product range includes eyewear for children, safety glasses, sports eyewear, and luxury options under the retail name Ottica.[10] Additionally, Optimax and GlassesUSA.com operate a B2B arm called United Vision Plan, which manufactures and sells eyewear for vision insurance plans in the United States and Canada.
On March 2024, GlassesUSA opened a new optical lab in Atlanta, Georgia, serving the entire US and Canada, offering next-day delivery service.[11] As for 2025, GlassesUSA.com holds 3 brick-and-morter stores in New York[12], Orlando[13] and Boston[14].
Brands
GlassesUSA.com operates as a "house of brands," offering a diverse selection of eyewear from both its proprietary lines and renowned designer labels. Its house brands include Muse, Ottoto, Revel, and Amelia E., each catering to different styles and preferences[15]. Through its affiliation with the Luxottica Group, and additional eyewear corporations, offers a wide range of frames including:

The program includes partnerships with organizations such as the Miss America Organization and the National School Boards Association to provide prescription eyeglasses to children in need across the United States, including Alaska.[24][25] It has also supported international efforts through a collaboration with “Bringing Life to the World,” delivering eye care and corrective eyewear in Nepal.[26] Additional initiatives include providing eyewear and assistance to Holocaust survivors through the non-profit Pink Glasses[27], and supporting low-income students via integration with Von's Vision, an organization founded by NFL player Von Miller.
