War 2 is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films.[1] It is the sequel to the 2019 film War and the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. The film stars Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani in leading roles.[2] In the film, Major Kabir Dhaliwal returns to combat a new threat to the nation in a perilous undercover mission.

Production
Development
Following the significant success of War in 2019, Yash Raj Films announced the development of a sequel as part of their expanding spy universe following the release of Pathaan (2023) and Tiger 3(2023). Ayan Mukerji was confirmed as the director.[4] The casting of Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani was officially announced in 2024.
Filming
Principal photography commenced in October 2023 in Spain. [5] The film was shot in multiple exotic locations across India, Spain, Italy and Abu Dhabi. The car chase sequence of the film was shot at Spain. Other sequences include a boat chase in Abu Dhabi and action scenes filmed across various Italian locales such as Venice, Lake Como, and the Amalfi Coast.
A dance sequence featuring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, choreographed by Bosco Martis, was filmed in March 2025 at Yash Raj Films Studios, Mumbai, with over 500 background dancers. [6]
Hrithik Roshan sustained a leg injury while filming an intense action sequence, leading to a brief halt in the film’s shooting schedule. [7]
Music
The music of the film is composed by Pritam Chakraborty.[8]
Release
War 2 is scheduled to be released on 14 August 2025. [9]
