Draft:Stri Darpan


Stri Darpan (Women's Mirror) was a Hindi women's periodical published between 1909-1928. [1] It was founded by Rameshwari Nehru with the aim of promoting social liberation and political emancipation of women.[2] The magazine was edited by Rameshwari Nehru and Uma Nehru while it was based out of Allahabad between 1909-1923.[3] The magazine was subsequently edited by Sumati Devi and Phulkumari Mehrotra when it later shifted to Kanpur.[1] Initially, the magazine was published both in the Devanagari and Persian script. However, after the first two issues it was solely published in Devanagri.[1] The periodical covered a wide range of topics and published articles on hygiene,health, women's achievements in India and abroad as well as articles against purdah and role-based education.[3]
