Draft:Krishna K. R.

Krishna K.R. (c. 1994 – 30 December 2024) was an Indian cinematographer and a member of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) who worked primarily in Malayalam cinema. She assisted the cinematographer Sanu John Varghese on Ponman (2025) and HIT: The Third Case (2025). She died during the production of HIT: The Third Case due to complications from bacterial meningitis.[1] The Economic Times described her as "widely respected for her talent and promise"[1]

Early life

Krishna was born in Perumbavoor, Ernakulam district, Kerala, to Kodambram Rajan and Girija.[1][2] Krishna studied cinematography at the Grotek Institute of Film & Television (GIFT) in Kochi.[3]

Career

Krishna began her career working on commercials and later worked as an assistant cinematographer on several Malayalam films[4]. She subsequently moved to Dubai, where she worked as a cinematographer. After returning to India, she assisted Sanu John Varghese on Ponman (2025)[4] and HIT: The Third Case, her final project.[1]

Death

In December 2024, Krishna was working on the production of HIT: The Third Case in Kashmir, after completing earlier shooting schedules in Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh. During the production, she developed a chest infection and was admitted to Srinagar Medical College on 23 December 2024. She was later diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.[1] Although her condition initially improved, on 30 December 2024, complications arising from meningitis led to a sudden cardiac arrest, resulting in her death. Her death was publicly announced by the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC)[1]
